James Sayer
James’ love for the piano and saxophone began at a very young age when he learnt all things Rock n Roll through discovering artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Billy Joel. Pursuing his dream James moved to London and started performing almost every night in piano bars, clubs and pubs. Eventually James met American producer, Alan Glass (Earth Wind and Fire, Aretha Franklin), and they began working on James’ debut demo material. To which five time Grammy winner and former member of The Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald, happened to get a hold of and wrote to James: ‘James, Have been enjoying immensely, your music. Very inspiring. Mike McD’.
From there James’ career went from strength to strength, including a U.S. tour with, BBC Radio 1 break-
James describes this as ‘one of the highlights of my career and a day I will never, ever forget’.
James’ debut track ‘Taking Back My Love’ was immediately picked up and made ‘Track of the Week’ by BBC 3 Counties, which has seen the likes of Jack Garratt and James Bay come through its station. ‘Taking Back My Love’ also featured on national BBC Introducing show with Mark Forrest. Whilst also receiving love on the legendary national Dutch station ‘Radio Veronica’. Which led James to play a sellout show in Holland, and get playlisted on the Dutch Radio 2, among others!
James' next single 'Sweet Baby Jane' was also made 'Track of the Week' by BBC 3 Counties, this was followed up by James' debut airplay on BBC Radio 2.
In 2018, James released 'Givin' it All For Free' which was featured heavily on BBC Radio 6 music on the Tom Robinson show and BBC Introducing Mixtape.
In 2020, James released 'Better Days Ahead' as part of the NHS Heroes Album, featuring artists such as Bill Wyman, Kiki Dee and Rumer.
